TMI Partied at the Park!
This past Thursday, TMI was honored to be part of the Grand Rapids Maranda Park Party held by WOTV Channel 4. Volunteers Jay, Steve, Tim, and Thomas headed out to the party and set up the TMI booth around 11:30 AM and hung out with the kids until 2:00 PM. Other than getting a biscuit (don't ask) it was a lot of fun.

The park parties are great way to interact with the kids, inform the parents, and just have a cool time. We set up our tent with a water bottle toss

Mobile Shop Wednesdays
Every other Wednesday is reserved for our mobile shop outreach events. These are some of our most important events as they function as a way for us to reach new kids with the program, and ultimately with Jesus Christ. We will be spending quite a few nights visiting our roots at Hillcrest Church in the Black Hills neighborhood, but we also plan on branching out to some new neighborhoods this year. Check our mobile shop calendar entry for more information and a small map to the location. If you have any questions, give Duane a call. Everyone is welcome, we will need lots of help.

Mon & Tue Night Wrench Nights
Monday and Tuesday nights from 6pm to 9pm will become our "official" wrench nights. Those that are interested in participating in the shop and wrenching on bikes are encouraged to take part in at least one or two "official" wrench nights to get oriented to the shop. Our Master Mechanic, Corky Williams will be on hand those nights to tutor, train, and place Lead and Assistant mechanics. These nights will be the best bet to learn how the shop operates. All skill levels are welcome! We train! This comes just in time as we recently had many bikes donated that need to be processed. Come on down, join in the fun and get greasy, or just hang out! Everyone is welcome.

(yes, we stole the image from the Park Tool website, but in our defense most of the tools we use are Park Tools - The greatest bicycle tools on the planet.)

ABOUT NATIONAL TRAILS DAY
The first Saturday every June is designated National Trails Day (NTD) in the United States. On that day every year more than a million hikers, bikers, equestrians, and others take part in thousands of events nationwide in celebration of America's trails. These events include new trail dedications, workshops, educational exhibits, equestrian and mountain bike rides, rollerblading, trail maintenance, and hikes on America's favorite trails. National Trails Day is organized nationwide by the American Hiking Society, a national nonprofit trail advocacy group based in Washington, DC. All events, however, are planned and carried out at the local level by conservation and recreation organizations, trail clubs, and land managing agencies. Originally established in 1993, NTD has grown to approximately 3,000 events across the country.

Thank You Bill!
His tag line was "Resurrecting Bicycles In Jesus' Name." That sounds a bit like "... the irony of a chain leading to freedom," doesn't it? Maybe not, but the mission is the same.

This past Saturday, Bill Carleton invited us to pick up a few bikes and some inner tubes. We ended up bringing back about 40 bikes and a slew of new and used bicycle parts. Bill said, "I am just glad to be giving these to an organization that is focused on Jesus,"
